Nathan Schaldach, known as Cali Nate from the Discovery series Street Outlaws, tragically died in a car crash while drag racing in southwest Texas. His girlfriend, Courtney Paulshock, confirmed the news in a heart-wrenching Facebook post, calling him her “soul mate” and expressing her shock and heartbreak.
The crash occurred at Eagle Pass, about two hours from San Antonio. Despite his friends’ efforts to get him to the hospital, they couldn’t save him. Paulshock chose not to disclose further details about the crash.
Schaldach appeared in season four of Street Outlaws: Fastest in America, which followed drag racing teams competing for a $100,000 prize. His season ended in May last year.
The dangers of street racing are well-known, and while professional racing is generally safer, incidents like this and the 2022 death of Street Outlaws actor Ryan Fellows show the risks.
Friends and fans mourned Schaldach’s passing online, with fellow racer Chris Frank noting both the love and fear people had for him. In one of her final messages to Schaldach, Paulshock shared that he had texted her before his last race, saying, “I love you very much just in case tomorrow never comes.”
